WOW: You Will be Able to Group with Your Friends from Different Servers in Open World
When you start a new character in old MMOs like World of Warcraft, you can barely see people in low level areas. To help new characters find a party easier, Blizzard will introduce a new technology called Cross-Realm Zones to World of Warcraft, which allows you to meet up and group with players from other realms.
How do cross-realm zones work?
"When you're in a zone that is set as a 'cross-realm zone' you'll notice that in addition to the players you'd ordinarily see from your realm, you'll also see (and be able to play with) players from other realms. This will happen seamlessly, and players will be able to group and quest as they normally would with players from their own realm."
You can talk and party with those who are in the same cross-realm zone but there are still restrictions on trading. According to Blizzard, when your cross-realm group moves from one zone to another, your party won't be disbanded. Thanks to this feature, those who have friends in different servers will be able to group with Real ID friends in open world. The areas that will be picked as Cross-Realm Zones will be varied from realm to realm, depending on how populated or underpopulated an area is.
Cross-Realm Zones is coming to Mists of Pandaria beta and you can learn more about this feature from the official post.
